Silverware with a myriad of designs, pottery, batik, songket (gold thread embroidery) and silk brocade attract the interest of Malays and foreigners alike.  This variety of traditional handicrafts supports the cottage industry in Malaysia.  Pewterware-making, with it's wide range of products, has had a boom to become a major industry in Malaysia.

Kuala Lumpur boasts one of the finest art galleries in Southeast Asia, the National Museum of Art.  Exhibitions are held throughout the year of both local and international artists.  Also on display is a permanent collection of works by renowned Malaysian artists.
